Your Mother’s Food & Spirits
Urban unpretentious: since 1997 folks that know a great time have been flocking to Your Mother's. The wings, the staff, the atmosphere all reflect a higher class of boozers & nightlife expectations. Indulge in great pricing and selection of beer, cocktails and food, and mingle with a fun crowd ready to take the night up a notch. Your Mother's Food & Spirits 61 North Walnut Street Mt Clemens, MI 48043-5619 (586) 468-4444
Woody’s Diner
If you go on the second floor its more like a club. It has a dance floor and pool tables. When it's warm out they have a nice rooftop patio with plenty of tables and a great view. In more ways than one, I was put out by the place. First, right upon entering, a bouncer told us to pay $3 to get to the dance floor. That thing was just fine, no big deal, but then, for a $6 beer, I expect it to be in a glass- even if it's an inexpensive glass, but a glass. ...
Ignite Sushi Bar & Lounge
Ambiance of this bar is cool, but the primary criticism I can say about the place is: the management would do well to do a renovation. That is, enlarge the table space (if your group is about ten to a dozen, you would crowd on 2 small tables). To offset this however, the waitresses are friendly and professional. Try the Ignite special roll and you will be back for more. Not exactly a beer place, but if you love cocktails, this place will suffice. Ignite Sushi Bar & Lounge 1777 Third St Detroit, MI 48226 (313) 465-1650
Casey’s Pub
This is an OK place whether you want to be alone or hang out with friends. The burgers are very good and you can get Killian pints for around $2. The brews are ice-cold and just like any other bar, the crowd varies from day to day. The ambiance though is not lazy, it could be described as fast-paced most particularly on very busy evenings. If you want to be left alone and drown your "sorrows", you will usually get your wish. Casey's Pub 1830 Michigan Ave Detroit, MI 48216 (313) 963-2440
Cutter’s
This is named for the meat cutters who started this business. Naturally, this grill has one of the juiciest and largest burgers you could see in this part of the world. Besides good food, the crowd here is friendly, as opposed to people who stare at you as if you were an alien. They have beer, but alas, no mixed drinks or fruity beverages. They should do something about it, it is a turn-off for some folks. On Friday and Saturday nights, the crowd is thick- the perfect time to be sociable. Cutter's 2638 Orleans Detroit, MI 48218 (313) 393-0960
Mr. Joe’s
More than enough plasmas and a couple of TVs for those who want to see the big game. I've seen the place with barely a few customers, but on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the place is jumping. On these days, they give the specials. My favorite is the cherry burger, you should check it out. Mr Joe's has a golden T and even Club Keno, for those who are not interested in the plasmas. Wheelchair access is a yes, which is another plus. Mr. Joe's 26077 W 12 Mile Rd Southfield, MI 48034 (248) 356-7133
Norm’s Field of Dreams
That classic line of the 80s movie: "if you build it, they will come"? Well, I sure came to this place and found it OK, just ok. Prices are ok and nothing feels fake in the ambience, although that must be a relative statement. If you order sour mix, you might get disappointed, so stick to beers. I do not know if this is the fault of the bartenders or it is really the style of the place. Nothing earth-shattering about this place, it's not the venue you'll be coming back to again and again. Norm's Field of Dreams 1090 Rochester ...
Jumbo’s Bar
The crowd in this pThe PBRs are priced at $2 and they have a jumping atmosphere. On Saturdays, be prepared for a crazy yet fun karaoke night. If you want to start your dream for the American Idol crusade, begin here. The beers (the other brands) are moderately-priced. Aside from all of that, no special feature. Good for a visit or two when you visit town. Jumbo's Bar 3736 Third Street Detroit, MI 48201 (313) 831-8949
Bourbon Street East
In a way, this is a posh place, for it is actually a private membership club. Don't worry though, if you pay the cover charge, you will be let in. (I don't know, but we can safely guess the members get in free for a yearly payment, or something). They have three pool tables and a seating part that is elevated. You can enjoy using the electronic jukebox or simply show your dancing moves on the floor. If you love Paddys, hey, you can go bar-hopping, for they are just next door. Bourbon Street East 2606 Raeford Rd Clinton, MI 48038 (910) 488-8883
Kickers All American Grill
This sports-themed bar is a good one, easy to assume that it will get more patrons in the immediate future. TVs for the games and they have very good food. Rating of 1 to 10 with ten as the highest: the bar burger is 9, fries are 8, service is almost a ten, and the cleanliness of the restrooms merits a 9. The manager is sociable and takes time out to talk to the patrons. If you are tired of the seedy bars, check this out. They even take reservations, if that is what you have in mind. Typical is my bottom line for this place, and if I have to be very honest, I’ll say below average. Yes, the drinks are affordable, the restrooms are well-maintained, but good Lord Almighty, the air-conditioning should be changed (the brand or the number). The place was not full when I was there, yet I was sweating. If you just want to grab a bottle and a burger then head out, this place will... [Read more]
AFB – Another Fucking Bar & Grill
My friend refuses to go to this place because of the name, but hey, the place is cool. Their burger is superb, with cheese and fries with ample portions, for just around six dollars! Some people settle for beer and the hell with food, fine. They can enjoy themselves with the plasma and the pool tables (I didn’t play, I had a sprained shoulder), or even the video games. Oh, they have free popcorn... [Read more]
Kelly’s Bar
This is a great dive bar, and I do not say that lightly. Their buffalo-chicken burgers are wonderful or if you want- just drink to your heart’s content. The place is a mix of a greasy spoon and a dive bar, so it caters to different kinds of clienteles. The drinks are good and cheap, and to those who want to keep busy, they have a jukebox and a pool table. The place is both down-to-earth and... [Read more]
Roadies Pub formerly Teddy’s Tavern
This is quite small, and it’s no wonder that a lot of times, it gets packed like a can of sardines. They have a DJ (good news) but I was not exactly impressed with his work. They have a dance floor if you want to show off your groovy moves to strangers. Beers are affordable and if you want, engage in a game of darts with the stranger eyeing you as if he wanted to bury you in the ground. Yes,... [Read more]
Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar
A good location on Big Night game while you eat chicken wings. Ideal times to go there is Tue or Thu, the specials are worth the effort. The problem is, the last time I was there, I waited for half an hour for my food, they should bring in more workers. Their beer is good though, particularly when you order the Asian Zing alongside it. Attire is casual which suits a lot of people just fine. Buffalo... [Read more]

A lot of seats, good pool tables, and a bar section that could accommodate fifteen to twenty heads. You want TVs? They have tons of that here and also two large projections. They have beer specials at about 2.50$ and take note, Thursdays are special nights. Bring your own mug and you’ll get some treats (not exactly free). It’s a sports bar par excellence, so what are you waiting for? Give... [Read more]
The Biergarten
One of the best in the whole Metro, and if I were not married, I’ll probably be here everyday. Imported beers go for less than $4.00- not bad. The place has karaoke (no charge, just don’t monopolize it for five hours). To those who hate listening to other people singing, well, try your hand in the pool table. Every time I go here, the bar blasts, and that is a fact! Saturday night is very... [Read more]
